This has been a difficult few weeks for me and my family. My step-father passed away on February 20th, and I was sick with a cold/flu which kept me from being with my mom. But after feeling that I was no longer contagious, I traveled up to Arkansas for the service and had laryngitis for two days, while all the family  from as far away as Hawaii, Oregon, Texas and Florida gathered around to console my mother and remember their father and grand-father. I stayed with my mom for a week, and then we brought her home with us for  a few days. Now she is back home in Arkansas, and hopefully getting used to the idea of moving here to live with us eventually, a very difficult transition. She is 94.

Four more of my paintings are now available in the gallery at Aunt Gertrude's House in Guthrie...
My niece Lauren, who works at Calm Waters, an organization that helps children and families in their grief journey caused by death, or divorce, or other significant loss, asked me if I would donate a painting for their auction to support their center for children and families. I thought my painting of Lake Michigan would be perfect considering the name Calm Waters...

Peaceful Lake Michigan
16" x 20" oil on canvas
I have lived near some of the most beautiful ocean beaches in the world, but I was stunned at the beauty of the beach at Lake Michigan! It was absolutely gorgeous! On the day we were there, the sun was shining and the sky  was  glowing a beautiful azure blue…This painting is done entirely with a palette knife. Black floater frame included.

The auction will be on April 13th at the Devon Boat House in Oklahoma City. For more details see the Calm Waters website...calmwaters.org    Scroll down the page and look for the right column that says Donation.

8" x 10" on gallery wrapped canvas

This is my latest painting, and  I'm trading another artist for 2 of her smaller paintings.

I do love to trade or barter, so if you would like to trade for a painting, just contact me and we'll see if we can work something out.
