I came up with idea of painting some "Old World" paintings after knitting some gorgeous Latvian Mittens. The beautiful handiwork of traditional dress all over the world really inspires me. Women spent hours on intricate embroidery to decorate their clothing, usually worn for the best occasions. Browsing the web for traditional costumes I came upon a photo of three women in France that inspired this first painting in my series...
